VINEYARD AND CULTIVATION

DESCRIPTION: Vineyards located to the southwest of the province of Zamora, on the Dehesa la Granja estate, with a total area of 800 hectares devoted to livestock farming and different crops, of which 101 hectares are vineyards.

SURFACE AREA: 52 Hectares

AGE: Average of 20 years

SOIL: Formed by sedimentary sandstone, clay and limestone, which give rise to limestone soils on the surface. Loamy materials alternate with coarse and fine-grained sandstone.

CLIMATE/HARVESTING: 2015 was extremely hot and dry. Winter started out cold with no rain. Spring was slightly warm and dry, which led to an early bud break restricted by water deficits. A particularly warm and dry May influenced the different phaenological stages of the vines, which reached summer with limitations in the number and size of the bunches. In
summer, the conditions remained the same in the area, limiting berry size. The ripening period was shortened due to the early bud break and the weather conditions during the cycle, so the harvest was done very early, with the grapes in perfect health. The harvest, with
lower-than-average yields, can be considered to be very good to excellent.

HISTORY OF THE WINERY: In the region known as Tierra del Vino (‘Land of Wine’) in Zamora, Familia Fernández Rivera planted tempranillo grape vines from Condado de Haza and renovated an ancient winery which has an underground cellar more than three centuries old where the wine is aged in an excellent environment.

AGEING: 24 months in American oak barrels.
