A new vintage of this classic from Condado de Haza, which undergoes a longer ageing process in American oak barrels—18 months—and refinement in the bottle for more than 12 months. An ageing process that provides greater structure and elegance to this wine, which is definitely a guaranteed winner among the best Ribera del Duero wines in terms of value for money. Awarded a Gold Medal at the 2018 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, it stands out among the list of the top 100 Spanish wines by the international critic James Suckling. It also received 93 points in the prestigious American magazine Wine & Spirits.

WINERY: Condado de Haza

BRAND: Condado de Haza Crianza

VARIETY: 100% Tempranillo

LOOK: Clear and shiny. Cherry-red colour with a violet rim.

SMELL: Intense on the nose with aromas of black fruits such as blackberries. Slight touch of liquorice with spicy notes from the ageing in American oak.

TASTE: Meaty wine with well-integrated acidity, highlighting rounded tannins that show good volume and persistence in the mouth. Aromas of liquorice can be appreciated in the aftertaste.

CONSUMPTION: Ready for drinking, it will develop properly in the bottle. Decant 30 minutes before serving to oxygenate. It may contain sediments as it has not undergone any filtration process to get a more natural wine, but this does not affect the quality of the wine.

PAIRINGS: Ideal for roasted lamb, chuletillas al sarmiento (grilled lamb chops), oxtail, suckling pig and hard cheeses.

DESCRIPTION: The winery’s own vineyards located within the municipal boundaries of Roa and La Horra, at an altitude of more than 811 metres.

SURFACE AREA: 164 hectares in total.

AGE: Average of 25 years.

SOIL: Sandy loam.

CLIMATE: Continental Atlantic, dry and windy, with very harsh, long and cold winters and short, dry and hot summers. An area with an annual rainfall of 400 mm. HARVEST: A year that was warmer than usual. The first frosts did not arrive until November and December. Using these months as a reference, it can be said that winter temperatures were warmer. The beginning of spring came with cooler temperatures than normal. Nevertheless, bud break took place as normal. The average temperature since June was quite high, reaching normal ranges in August. The harvest took place in September.

VINIFICATION: The production process is completely traditional, with de-stemming and subsequent alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks.

AGEING: Aged 18 months in American oak barrels and 6 months in the bottle.
